Z machine
The Z machine
Our best attempt to replicate the iconic sound of the very first version of the Zonk Machine from the 60s is evident in every aspect of this pedal. With the switch pointing down, the tone is characterized by a gated and sputtery effect, creating that unmistakable lo-fi character associated with the early circuit designs. Flip the switch up, and experience a lift in the gating effect, allowing for rich sustain and increased dynamics, which are essential for achieving that classic 60s garage sound.
On the left, the fuzz/bias knob controls the level of compression and sustain, while the volume knob to the right ensures you can adjust to your desired output.
The pedal is powered by carefully matched and tested germanium transistors, including the 2N1309, big black glass Telefunken, and a rare special Soviet germanium. Constructed with several NOS components on stripboard with vintage spacing.
Designed to be daisy-chained with standard Boss-type pedals, it doesn’t require an isolated power supply. It can also be powered by a 9v battery. Boasting a vibrant Square Wave BD green hammer finish powder coating, this is a must-have for any serious tone chaser.
Size: 119×94×38mm
